Change for Schools (Blog 6)

Change Up That Education!

Society in the world today is growing more and more each day. We come up with new inventions everyday and are constantly brain storming new ways to make our world even better then it already is. So why does our education system have so many flaws in it? Dave Eggers' realizes this with the many teachers involved in his life. The teachers notice students that can't keep their grades up in many subjects especially reading and writing, with all of the different learning styles and backgrounds it's almost impossible when you have 200 students to be able to help each one individually. Dave realizes this and he knows that with the help of one on one teaching, all students would be able to improve. In order to help, he opened up his own tutoring school.

Dave is not alone in the hunt help children gain a better education for themselves. President Bush used his own efforts to start the "No Child Left Behind" act. He has set higher standards in the education system for children to strive for. WIth this act, states an gain some of the flexibilities they need. Is this going to solve all of the education flaws? No, we still have so many more tangles society is trying to work out. School is such a big part of everyone's lives so why would we not want to help figure out a way to make it better?

With Dave's small act in order to help, he has already begun changing the world. If a hundred other people think of ways to help, it would help just that much more. "A bunch of happy families in a neighborhood is a happy community. A bunch of happy community tied together is a happy city and a happy world," stated Eggers. By opening 826 Valencia school children had the opportunity to lear one on one and get the teaching they needed. If people today start thinking like Dave Eggers, then maybe we can all change the world.
